Estas alarmantes previsões não têm qualquer sustentação científica (<a href="http://wattsupwiththat.com/climategate/"><span style="font-style: italic;">ClimateGate</span></a> e <a href="http://mitos-climaticos.blogspot.com/2009/11/apanhados-com-boca-na-botija-em-ingles.html"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">com a boca na botija</span></a>) nem são suportadas pelos dados reais medidos e observados no campo — “observational data”.<br /><br />O registo e compreensão da história geológica das oscilações no nível do mar, e a sua relação com outras variáveis (clima, volume glaciar, variações do potencial gravítico, modificações rotacionais, variabilidade das correntes oceânicas, modificações na evaporação/precipitação, etc.) é a chave para se fazerem previsões sólidas da sua evolução futura (Mörner 2004).<br /><br />Dentro da natural incerteza, Mörner (2004, 2005) calcula para o próximo século uma possibilidade de subida da ordem dos <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 255, 51);">+5cm ±15cm</span>.<br /><br />É verdade que o nível do mar subiu na ordem dos 10 a 11 cm, desde 1850 até 1940, em função da variabilidade Solar e relacionadas modificações na Temperatura global e Volume dos glaciares. Desde 1940 até 1970, o nível do mar parou de subir, talvez até descido um pouco. Nos últimos 10-15 anos não se verificam verdadeiros sinais de qualquer subida ou, especialmente , de qualquer subida acelerada (conforme alarmismo do IPCC, 2001).<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(51, 204, 255);">Satellite altimetry is a powerful new tool for recording of global sea level changes. Whilst the first records shows no signs of any rising trend, a later version has a stong rising trend. This trend, however, is imported from subjective analyses of tide-gauge records and does not refer to a true satellite altimetry record (Mörner 2004, 2005). Whether this should be classified as “misunderstanding” or “falsification”, I lead for the readers to decide.</span><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(51, 204, 255);"><br /><br />In conclusion; observational data do not support the sea level rise scenario. On the contrary, they seriously contradict it. Therefore, we should free the world from the condemnation of becoming extensively flooded in the near future.
